Prefix MIS-
MIS- means 'wrongly' or 'badly'. 'Misread' means to read wrongly.
How this rule works
The prefix mis- means something is done wrongly or incorrectly. 'Read' → 'misread' (read wrong); 'spell' → 'misspell' (spell wrong).
Remember: MIS- means it went wrong — mistake, misread, misspell!
