The vowel team 'oa' reliably makes the long O sound /oʊ/. This is one of the more consistent vowel teams.

C and H together make a new sound: /tʃ/, like in 'chop' and 'much'.
When C and H are together, they don't say /k/ + /h/. They make a completely new sound: /tʃ/. This is called a digraph — two letters making one sound.

After unvoiced sounds like /p/, /k/, /s/, -ED says /t/, like in 'jumped' and 'walked'.
The suffix -ed has three pronunciations. After unvoiced consonants (p, k, f, s, sh, ch), -ed says /t/. The E is silent.
